Good morning members and friends,

Along with you all, Jayne and I looked on in horror at the cataclysmic bush fires from the Port Macquarie and Taree areas, when we were alerted to one in Hazelbrook in the Blue Mountains between where our daughters live, these fires are very unpredictable.

We must stay alert to the situation in our local area and keep an eye on our friends and neighbours. It occurred to both of us, that we weren’t exactly sure of where our nearest evacuation centre is located, we thought it was “Everglades”. We should at least know for sure, so we will find out and let you know.

Jayne and I went to the Umina Beach Charity Gala Ball in aid of The Top Blokes Foundation.

A great night put on by the “brothers” of the Umina Rotary Club for a great cause supporting the mental health of young men.

Great show guys and the whole team lead by President Rouel Vergara.

As I told my lovely bride when I proposed “I don’t dance or do DIY” so we slipped out before the gigs started.

Just a quick reminder the cost of the Christmas Party on the 18th December at the Pearl Beach hall will be $25.00 per person.

We are giving the young people from our two youth refuges on the Peninsula and those who are now in outreach a fun Christmas. Family and friends are welcome, a generous supporter has covered the cost of the hall hire.

Our trip to Muswellbrook for Melbourne Cup Day was enjoyed by all and while “Chatham House rules” apply I cannot resist these pictures of happy members and friends. Proving once again that winners are grinners, at least one or two of us went home richer than they went, all thanks to Martyn.

We will be away in Tasmania from the 20th, Mitch will run the meeting. PLEASE don’t forget to pay your next half years dues to the Admin Account in December.

Warmest regards – President Peter
